Peak Support Q&A: Sam Pacunla

One of our Senior Team Leads, Sam, is really looking forward to spending Christmas with his family this year, as it has been three years since he last saw them. Black is his favorite color, especially when it comes  to clothing, because it makes him feel powerful and mysterious. He considers his mom’s older sister, who has cared for him ever since he was little, as one of the most important people in his life. When asked what he loves about working at Peak Support, he says that it’s the people, work environment, company’s integrity and values, and the support he receives that has made him stay in the company for almost four years now. It doesn’t take much for people to get along with Sam since he is an easygoing, enthusiastic, open-minded, optimistic, and humorous person. Read the October Q&A blog now to know more about Sam.

What phone app are you just not a fan of?

I am not a fan of any mobile games. In fact, I don’t even have at least one single gaming app installed on my mobile phone.

Are you more of a morning or night person?

Aside from being a breakfast person, I consider myself to be a morning person because I can do a lot of chores and accomplish so many things during the day.

Do you often care what other people think about you?

I do care, but not often. I care about feedback and I’m always eager to improve myself; to fit in and develop good relationships with people around me.

What’s your favorite sleeping position?

Scientifically, I am more of a right-side sleeper because it’s best for my heart (so they say). It also feels safer and more comfortable.

If you could take something from the past to the present, what would it be?

I immediately thought of my late grandmother’s version of Maggi chicken noodle soup with native eggs that she would usually cook for me for breakfast before going to school or when I felt sick.

Have you ever compulsively bought something and regretted it later?

I have oftentimes! Not sure if it’s just me, but every time I enter a store or a shop there’s this feeling that people expect me to buy something; that I am required to grab it and pay for it at the checkout counter.

Do you like surprises?

Surprises are meant to be a good and fun thing, but I just don’t like how it feels. I still like to feel like I’m in control of the situation, and I feel most comfortable when I’m prepared.

What for you is the most relaxing sound?

As someone who grew up in a province that’s surrounded by beaches, I must say that I find the sound of the waves to be relaxing. Especially, the soothing sound the waves make when they splash onto the rocks and sand.

Who would you take with you on a fun road trip?

None that I can think of for now. Maybe by the time I have kids, we can enjoy a drive through the countryside and end up eating at McDonald’s or Jollibee.

Song genre that you really like?

I am fascinated by country music and I have a whole playlist of country songs that I listen to whenever I feel like it. Also, it is simple, easy to listen to, and fairly laid-back.

Top 5 tips to keep yourself happy.

  1. Get enough sleep and rest.
  2. Never deprive yourself of good food – we deserve that!
  3. Celebrate your wins, whether big or small.
  4. Reward yourself for your hard work.
  5. Play at least 1 or 2 sports once in a while.

What’s the most rewarding part about working in customer service?

I would have to say, being able to genuinely help customers resolve their issues and concerns and make them happy. Furthermore, I get to enhance and develop new skills and get to know myself as a person.

Is there anything that you enjoy collecting?

Not certain if “collecting” is the best term for this but I am addicted to sneakers. As a matter of fact, I still have a few new pairs that I haven’t used yet.

What do you and your friends usually talk about when you get together?

Whenever we get a chance to see each other, we usually talk about our stresses and challenges in life and how we’re able to overcome them. We share our life experiences (personal and professional) and learn from each other. Then reminisce about some of our funny moments together and laugh about it.
