Peak Support Q&A: Stephen Lowe

Stephen is our Chief Information Officer. He joined Peak Support in January 2022. The warm days and cool nights in Atlanta is what Stephen loves the most about the spring time. This energetic, adventurous, driven, and inquisitive man enjoys watching NFL football. As a Georgia native, he has been a huge Atlanta Falcons fan for as long as he can remember. He especially loves watching and discussing games with his son. Stephen listens to songs from Highly Suspect, the Blue Stones, the Steepwater Band, Black Pistol Fire, and other rock/blues bands. His favorite foods include barbecue, sushi, and chorizo tacos. Want to know something cool? He owns three ceramic kamado grills of various sizes. Whether its low and slow BBQ, steak or whole chickens or turkeys, he really enjoys the process of cooking over charcoal. Read on to get to know Stephen better.

Is there a musical instrument that you wish you could play?

Drums. I love to play air drums. I have family members and friends who play so I’ve messed around with them a good bit. They are a lot of fun to jam on but I’ve never had the time to really learn though.

Would you rather own a yacht or a helicopter?

Definitely a Yacht. I love the water and would be so much happier watching the sunrise over the water while sipping coffee from the deck.

What were you like as a teenager?

Hardheaded and rebellious. If my parents told me the sky was blue, I wouldn’t believe it and would have to go prove it for myself.

Would you ever put your house up as a vacation rental?

Maybe. I have teenage kids now and when they are out of school, my wife and I will most likely move. Not sure yet if we will sell or rent. But renting is definitely appealing.

Have you ever built/assembled anything with your own hands?

Yes, I’m pretty handy. I recently tore down and rebuilt my deck as the wood was old and falling apart. I finished the basement at my old house including framing, electrical, sheetrock, and HVAC. When I was younger (and had more free time) I did all my own vehicle maintenance – from small engine repair to replacing transmissions, clutches, brakes etc. on cars, motorcycles, and recreational vehicles.

If you were a YouTuber, what type of content would you make?

Outdoor videos. Camping, being on or near the water, enjoying the patio, I like to be outside most of the time if I can.

What is your greatest achievement as a parent so far?

My kids.  My son just got accepted to Georgia Tech and my daughter is an amazing singer and is excelling in her schooling as well.  Watching them focus and apply themselves to achieve their goals is very rewarding as a parent.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how great of a party host are you?

10! I love hosting parties. My wife and I host an annual New Years party at my house for close friends and family. It goes late and people usually stay over to avoid driving anywhere. We also host our annual family Christmas get together for extended family.

What childhood game do you miss playing?

Hide and seek. I loved hiding. I was always able to come up with the best hiding spots that would confound the seekers.

Are there activities that you enjoy doing with your family?

Camping, watching movies or shows together, biking, and boating. My kids are getting older and the amount of time we can all get together is getting scarce, so I look forward to any group activity.

Would you be willing to become a professional race car driver?

YES. I used to have a track car and did drivers schools at the local road course. It is so much fun but very expensive to participate in.

When was the last time you gave someone flowers?

Valentine’s Day. I bought flowers for my wife and daughter from a unique vendor that makes long lasting paper flowers.

What exotic food have you tried?

I love sushi (is that exotic?) and recently had the opportunity to have sushi in Tokyo, Japan. It was an amazing experience!

If you were a beverage, what would you be?

Redbull, because I am high energy. I am the guy who goes to bed later than everyone and is up early before everyone.

The secret to a happy marriage is _____.
