Peak Support Q&A: Leizl Joy Yee

Lizzy has been working for Peak Support’s Talent Acquisition and Training departments for close to two years now. She plays a very important role in helping team members improve their usage and familiarity of the English language. Lizzy is a Libra and currently resides in “The City of Smiles,” Bacolod City. If there are two things that she can never say no to, they definitely have got to be pizza and cheesecake. Lizzy is a big fan of the original “Charmed” TV series and never gets tired of watching “The Devil Wears Prada.” When she wants to de-stress, Lizzy does aerial dance, aerial hoops, and power yoga – things that aren’t very easy to do, but she does them with poise and ease anyway. How difficult is aerial dance/silk to learn?

It is a workout and an art at the same time that requires full commitment and your entire body’s strength, and I guess it’s hard in that sense. Add the element of fear when you go high and dare yourself to execute the drops and you’ve got yourself a difficult, but unique and exhilarating experience every single time. It keeps me alive.

What’s the one thing that you always told yourself you’d never do but ended up doing anyway?

I always said I will never be late again…but I still am, sometimes. Okay, many times. This is a bad habit I still struggle with.

If you had the chance to sail the ocean for six months, which three cities/countries will you visit?

Top 3 on my list are Oia, Santorini in Greece, Prague, and Barcelona, Spain. The reasons are the same for all three and it’s that they are incredible sights to see, and their culture and history interest me to no end that I want to experience them myself.

What is your fondest memory of high school?

I used to fantasize about marrying Taylor Hanson. 99% of my high school memories were filled with watching Hanson videos at one of my friend’s houses, learning how to play band instruments, and actually playing as a band with my friends at a school program. I sang lead vocals and played the keyboards, if you must know.

What’s your nightly skin care routine like?

Um, sometimes I sleep with my makeup on.

If you were to make a movie about your life, what would its title be?

Literally, it’s Confessions of a Shopaholic. I had a very bad history on handling my finances that I’m not proud of, that also made me all too careful now not to drift back to it. P.S. I do not own a single credit card now and I now owe money to no one but myself.

Which five things are always inside your handbag?

My cell phone, wallet, cosmetics pouch, pepper spray, and knife. On the last two, it pays to be cautious and be able to defend yourself if the occasion calls for it.

What ice cream flavor have you always wanted to try but haven’t yet?

A lot of my friends love pistachio, and I have always been curious of how good it tastes, but I have always ordered my own favorites over it when I eat ice cream.

What’s your one guilty pleasure?

Admittedly, shopping is still my top guilty pleasure. I do guiltless shopping every once in a while and on several occasions, I triumphantly walk out of a sale season without a single purchase.

If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?

I would delay judgement and spite. And I would like to have more informed and well-studied opinions, rather than socially influenced ones. Criteria and background checks on government officials won’t hurt, too. Oh, and bidets in public toilets would be nice, too. Oh sorry, the question only asked for one, but I could just go on…

What’s the best compliment anyone has ever given you?

“I would really love to hear your opinion on this.”

What’s something that you’re not a big fan of, that you wish you were?

Vegetables and MS Excel.

What recent act of kindness would you like to share with us?

I more easily remember acts of kindness done to me or my family. One instance when I was reminded of how God meets our needs through another mortal was through our neighbor. This neighbor lives in the house across ours and when our dog gave birth, this neighbor made an effort to hand in food for our nursing dog almost daily. I was touched by this gesture as she may seem to deserve or need help more than our family does, but she willingly showed kindness where it wasn’t required.

If you could travel back in time, which period/era would you like to go back to?

The Georgian Era (1970s-80s) in England, which was the time period Jane Austen wrote about in Pride and Prejudice.

What’s the worst food you ever ate?

My first attempt at cooking pochero (a popular Filipino stew.) My daughters were nice enough to just say it was okay, but truly, it was not.

What would you do if you were invisible for a whole day?

I would sneak in to Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle to witness first-hand, a day in the life of the British Royalty!
