Peak Support Q&A: Christian Lou Manguiat

Christian became a member of the Peak Support family in December of 2020. He juggles talent acquisition, employee engagement, marketing, and admin related tasks on the daily. Having the freedom to play all outside with his friends, is one of Christian’s fondest childhood memories. What helps him relax after a busy day? A long, cold shower . The South Korean mystery thriller Parasite, and musical theatre dramas such as Moulin Rouge, The Phantom of the Opera, and Les Misérables are some of his favorite movies. Prior to the pandemic, Christian decided to treat himself to a pair of adidas Yeezys and quick trip to Cebu with friends. The people around him and the experiences he’s had keep him grounded. He says that he is an introvert by nature and an extrovert by choice. Read our February Q&A blog now to get to know Christian better.

Would you swim in the ocean for 30 minutes nonstop?

No! I’ve tried scuba diving in Cebu and Batangas with the hope of overcoming my Thalassophobia. But I just can’t shake the image of a great white shark swimming towards me whenever I’m in the ocean. For now, I’ll settle for a good swim in shallow waters until I’m ready to venture into rougher and deeper waters.

Have any of your childhood dreams come true?

Yes! “To become a manager like my dad!”, this was my answer whenever people asked about my dream job back when I was young. I was able to achieve that dream with my previous employer, and now with Peak Support. Together with that dream was the opportunity to go places and experience different cultures.

What food smell do you find to be unpleasant?

The pungent smell of the durian fruit. It’s hard to explain why, but it is just such a potent odor.

Who are you most proud of?

Not to brag, but I would have to say myself. I believe we should have a strong sense of self-worth.

When did you last say no to someone?

Just recently. My weekends are often spent with my friends, but I had to decline any invites so I could devote my time to my niece, who was in town. Family always comes first.

How often do you stay up really late?

I’d say very often. During the work week, I’d get an average of 5 hours sleep each day; rest and relaxation usually happen on the weekend.

If you could leave half of your heart anywhere, where would it be?

I’ll leave it back home with my family. We are a close-knit family, and they will always own a big chunk of my heart.

Describe your dream house.

My home will have a modern tropical look, with lots of big windows for natural lighting and ventilation, a big yard for our future kids to play, plenty of seating area for family gatherings, and a fully-equipped kitchen.

Does the possible existence of extraterrestrial life frighten you?

Not really. Watching all those sci-fi movies makes me curious about what will happen if aliens were real.

I roll my eyes every time somebody _____.

Talks negatively about others for personal gain.

Name 5 well-known personalities, dead or alive, who you would like to meet.

  1. Jesus Christ (Religion – Can’t argue with this.)
  2. Freddy Mercury (Music – Queen!)
  3. Anne Hathaway (Celebrity – Les Misérables proved she can act and sing.)
  4. Howard Schultz (Starbucks – I love coffee!)
  5. Tony Tan Caktiong (Jollibee – Rags to riches story.)

What’s something that never fails to lighten your mood?

Receiving that payroll credit notification. I’m sure everyone will agree with me on this. Haha!

How good are you at saving money?

I’d say fair enough. I feel my savings can help me get by, but still need more for security in life.

Has anyone ever heard you talk in your sleep?

Fortunately, no one has ever mentioned this to me…and I hope it never happens!

What do you usually do during Valentine’s Day?

Aside from sending food and flowers to my mom, February 14th is “Singles Awareness Day” for me. I often spend the day with friends or splurge on myself.
